So as y’all may have noticed, the Rundown has been in a bit of hibernation. Well, there’s not a lot to say about running over the winter, anyway. (For those of you new to this blog, the Rundown is this “runners’ carnival” blog-roundup I started about a year ago).
In all honestly, I got a […]
James Zogby? John Zogby? What’s the difference?
What’s that about admitting errors…
Comments continue to trickle in on some of my more interesting posts. All are automatically emailed to me, so I don’t miss any of them, but I don’t want my readers to, either. Check out:
T.A.B.: “If I give an engagement ring, I expect a big-screen Plasma TV and a computer in return.“ Adeel Iqbal: […]
Here is the Rundown, on the Manhattan Half-Marathon the other day.
And here’s a few photos of your truly running it. (I did terrible, but my quad appears to be better).

Okay, is anyone else having trouble reaching derekrose.com? Obviously, if you reading this, you must have connected … but ever since I switched servers on Sunday, I am having trouble. Please let me know if you are, too.
Popularity has its price … derekrose.com was down for most of Sunday as I had exceeded my bandwidth (2 gig/month). Now I’m on the 5 gig plan, for $44/year. That plan lets me gives me additional “mySQL databases” — basically, I could add on a photo gallery or somesuch if I want. We’ll see.
I went to this small little blogger meetup party Monday night, an anniversary party for the WhatISee photoblog. It was at Vintage, just around the corner from me. (There are some photos here, including one of my arm).
Anyway, the funny thing wasn’t that there were other bloggers at this meetup — it was that […]
For some reason the NYRR website is down. But I was just under about 1:13 for the Frostbite 10miler, or roughly a 7:15 pace. I don’t want to say I’m satisfied, because that’s still about three minutes over my PR. But I ran 7:32s at the Hot Chocolate 15K, so can’t be too unhappy about […]
Lists like this are a bit of cliche, of course. But still amusing.
Search terms people have used to find this blog, past month (not a comprehensive list):
best running music (9 searches) hot jewish girls (7) world s.u.m.o challenge (3) who pays for dates (2) katie domaingue (2) athlete men pics (2) meeting jewish […]
The latest Rundown is up. Yeah, it’s been a little while, there was the holidays and then I was out of town for a week. Next week Beast is going to do it; I’m looking for guest-editors for after that.
Earlier today I had lunch at Vynl with Frank Myers of the Citizen Frank blog and his wife Renee. Eighteen months ago he an Army reservist was practicing law in Birmingham, Ala. when the Army called him up and sent him to Iraq to work on the reconstruction. I found his primary 2008 blog when […]
Ever wonder why some stories gain traction in the mainstream media, and others don’t? Here’s an interesting story in the New Bedford Standard Times that has gotten some play in the blogosphere the last couple of days.
NEW BEDFORD — A senior at UMass Dartmouth was visited by federal agents two months ago, after he […]
Elyssa and I are getting together for brunch after the Kleinerman 10K on Sunday, and thought we’d invite all the other NYC running bloggers. (You don’t have to run the race to come). We’ll be at the Metro Diner, W. 100th and Broadway, around 10:45 a.m.
In the wake of the New York magazine article Stephanie Klein has clarified that she and Linus are not … um … unusually close.
88. I let my dog lick me in private places but this reads way worse than it is. I don’t get off on this. I don’t even get started off it.
[…]
So I was out in the cold last night interviewing neighbors about this murder of topless dancer Catherine Woods. I guess two of those neighbors are bloggers This Fish (who lives in her building) and Uptown Girl, but I saw neither of them last night. I did encounter this cute little puppy though.
It […]
So for the marathon I tried to “liveblog” the race – have my blog automatically update as I crossed four portions of the race. I thought it didn’t work, but it did — sort of. The posts showed up, they were just dated December, 1969. Weird. Anyone have any ideas why that should happen?
So if all goes well I will be liveblogging my own progress in the marathon. The NYRRC has something called “athlete alert,” where you can send alerts tracking your progress over the racecourse to up to four email addresses. Well, WordPress also allows you to post via email, using a secret email address. (you’ll never […]
