reporter no more!

So I’ve basically been a reporter in some capacity or another for … well basically since a few months after college. And much of my time in college. But now I’m not! It’s crazy; I never thought I’d get sick of it. “I can’t believe you’re burnt out on breaking news :)” a friend and former co-worker from N.H. wrote me when I told her of my new position. I guess I had a bit of a reputation there. But as much as I love that adrenaline rush, running out across the city can get tedious after awhile.

So I’ve been on the job two days at the new job, and I like it! I’m keeping very busy, which is good. I had a lot of down time in my old job … as some of you may have noticed. If I’m totally screwing up, no one has said anything. That is probably all I’m going to say about the new job, that I like it. Discretion n’ all.

Tomorrow I am off to Massachusetts for Thanksgiving … will be staying Wednesday night with the Mofo! Oh, and I decided to get the Sony Ericson W810i. $25 on Amazon with a two-year contract. It arrived yesterday and seems v. cool.

  • Derek; Congrats on the new job. I got a notification from LinkedIn. I was a trade press editor for many years and loved it. Looking forward to hearing where you landed at some point.

  • We know you are very discrete here. Enjoy the job!

  • Congrats on the new job. I started a new one myself at the end of Aug and the perks are so great I feel like I won the lottery.

  • Cool! Having left my PhD program to pursue a fantastical career as a dating coach (well, maybe just for the next few months), I wish you the best. Life changing career decisions are always exciting.

The best part is, since everything will work out in the end (it always does), you know you’ll be able to look back on this as one of the best decisions of your life.
