So I got home Saturday to meet with C., planning on doing everything short of begging her to stay with me. Gave her a big hug as we got in. Then as she started to talk I looked past her shoulder and noticed all her books on the bookshelf were gone, already packed and moved to a friend’s house.
So that kind of made everything I had to say a foregone conclusion.
But I still did say it, to no avail. Actually, without going into too much detail, I was forced to agree with C. on certain things about our relationship. We just disagreed on whether those things were solvable or not.
Anyway: it’s clear we really care about each other. And I am not bitter or bear her any ill will. We will, I think, still be friends despite whatever happens. This definitely throws off the whole “Derek Rose life plan” way off track, but I will rebound and recover and so will she.
So anyway, I just want to say thanks to everyone who offered support this past week … it was much appreciated.
Gosh I’m sorry to hear that. I think everyone should give someone another chance and have a discussion rather than just do a sudden breakup. I’ve dated guys who had a completely different perspective on something that happened than I did, and only through talking did we both realize that it was a complete misunderstanding. I hope everything works out for you.
The old adage ‘communication is important’ is true, but also it’s not always that easy. Sometimes you are worried about causing problems that aren’t really there, if you blurt out a lot of stuff. Just having an “are we ok? anything you want to talk about?” session once in a while is good. And then you can’t get offended if something comes up.
Hang in, dude. The perfect woman is just around the corner.
