So I would kinda like a do-over on the past 10 days as far as fitness resolutions go. First toward the end of last week my left shoulder felt hurty while I was exercising it. Like some joint thing or something in the rotator cuff? It was only sore when I was lifting, though, so I don’t think it was anything serious. And it seems fine now. But then on Wednesday I had some chest congestion and felt under the weather. I felt better yesterday, but THEN my upper back started hurting. A strained muscle or something? I’m sure I’ll be fine in a couple of days. But ugh. Right now it kinda hurts to move around.
Anyway, so I did want to post this weekly, rain or shine, and regret not doing so earlier.
Fitness: Didn’t test myself on situps, pullups or run. (ugh). But did bench 245 pounds, meeting the “bonus” portion of my resolution.
Weight: 175.5 pounds, barely down from 176.5 last week. I did stick by my resolution not to buy beers for the apartment, which was HARD. I like beer. Maybe I am a little addicted to two or three beers before bed.
Debt: $7,398.81, up from $6,981.28. You’re going to see my debt rise three weeks out of the month and then dip the fourth, as I pay off bills. The important thing is that hopefully it doesn’t rise tooo much during the three weeks and trends down month-to-month.
Because I didn’t get much exercise the past few days, I did have time to complete a task that I’ve been working on since … 2003? A goal that has literally required every iota of my intellectual ability. I feel like I’ve used every single braincell trying to make sense of this.
Yes, folks, I’ve finished Neal Stephenson’s Baroque Cycle of three 900-page novels.
That cross fit exercise is great in one respect, but I think the odds of getting hurt at it seem higher than normal workouts. I suspect that is part of what is happening here. Nothing to be concerned about, but remember to watch your form on some of that stuff.
Derek:
You may remember me and my family from your childhood in Fairhaven. I would love to get in touch with your mother – a dear friend with whom I have lost contact over the years. Could you please give her email address to me, or mine to her.
