2008 goals week 1

So here we are…

Fitness: Just did 63 situps in two minutes, up from 56 two weeks ago. Yay! Also 17 pullups, same as last time. Did not test myself on run as have been taking advantage of warm weather to run outside.

Weight: 173 pounds, down from 175.5 last week. That is a slight improvement (but I think a real one as I’ve weighed myself several times in last few days and it’s been pretty consistent).

Debt: $8,004.41, up from $7,398.81. Yikes. But as I said earlier debt should increase three weeks and decrease fourth as I pay bills. And that’ll be next week! Hurray for paychecks…

  • How did you come up with your goal weight? Just curious. BTW awesome job!

  • Most of my life I’ve been about 175 (well, a few times ballooning up to around 185), but in 2006 I went on a diet and got down to 168. I thought I looked good at that weight and got some compliments. These days I am a bit more muscular, so I’m curious about what I’ll look like at 168 this time ’round. It may be that that’s too thin, and I’ll have to gain more weight, but we’ll see.

    It has been a bit of a struggle, honestly, even though so far I’ve only lost five pounds. I do not remember it being this hard to lose weight in 2006!

    I think you’ve put on considerable muscle from where you were in 06. Since muscle is heavier than fat, you may not be able to get down to 168 with all the cross training and lifting you’ve been doing — maybe you should modify your goal to a size measurement (say a 28 inch waist) rather than a specific weight. You are considerably more muscular and I don’t know where you’d get rid of 10 pounds.

  • Well it is only five pounds now. I’m 172-173 lbs. trying to get down to 168. I do not think that is a drastic goal or anything.

    According to my scale/body fat monitor I am 10% body fat — 17 lbs. — so really there is obv. room for improvement.

  • Also even if I got down to 160 (not something I’m trying to achieve) that would only be a 22 BMI.
