I have given up on toilet training the kitties. The idea was the hole you can see in the photo got larger are larger (there are plastic cut-outs in the Citykitty system), but at a certain point the kitties pretty much just decided to, err, stop using the toilet as their litter box and just went in the bathtub. So I started leaving some water in the bathtub … and they started just going on the bathroom floor. Ugh. So it was worth a shot, but no dice. And yes I have cleaned and disinfected the entire bathroom.
I’m sure it works with some kitties, but maybe there is a reason this product is just sold over the Internet and not in pet stores.
The promise of this system is you could dispose of it in like eight weeks and the cats would just use the toilet, but I should note that while you’re in the training phase, even when they’re using the toilet it’s pretty messy. The cats would scratch the litter and send it flying all over the bathroom floor. They do that in their litterybox, too, but it is enclosed so there is less mess.
