This is as useful as almost anything I’ve retrieved from the internet. No. I take that back. This IS the most useful piece of NYC info one (at least one with NYP plates) could hope to find. Thanks.

I’ve had this list for 2 years now, and while it’s helpfull, it’s filled with inaccuracies. You can call 1-212-442-7000 which is the DOT customer service line, and they will either send or fax you the up to date list.

Of course you realize that many of these spaces are located in front of private houses–especially in Queens. This means that we who pay (very heavy) taxes for our homes cannot park in front of our homes because this list lets many who come from other areas park all day so they can take the train to work. I have personally observed this for years so I know what I’m talking about. So, while you might think you’re doing a great service by letting everyone know about the “Free Parking Streets”, you are not taking into consideration the poor homeowner who has to put up with the parking for the day. Have a little pity!! I think I’ll ask the city for parking meters in front of my house. At least we’ll be able to park! I’m serious.

You should lobby for “resident parking” like they have in Boston. Otherwise, every man for himself.

I see that many of the cars on these streets are being targeted by DOT people. Tickets are being issued for every infraction–how many inches from the curb, etc. I guess these streets are too much to ask for. It was too good to be true.

Thanks for the Parking list–its a great help
    Question:
I notice some of the NYP Spots don’t exist on the list–do you hear that from others or know first hand yourself?

Please use me as anonymous if you use this question for your website .
    thanks

  • Bob, posts go up on here automatically, there’s no screening process.

As it says, the list is from 2000, so I know it’s a bit outdated. If someone wants to get an updated list from the DOT and go through it, make some corrections, I’d be happy to post it here.

Thanks a million for the NYP parking zone list. Invaluable.

  • Dennis

I have been attempting to get the new parking list from DOT for 3 days now! I went to your site and found the most current NYP Zone List! thanks for saving me a great deal of time and effort! Do you ever update this sheet as DOT updates it?

    Dennis

  • Dennis – No. But if someone else gets the list and wants to email it to me, I’ll post it here.

  • ben

    is there an updated list?

  • Maybe? http://www.newyorkpressclub.org/nyp_zones.php? I don’t have anything updated. And I no longer have a car, so I’m not really motivated to get a new list. But if wants to email me something I can post, I’ll put it up here…

I saw a huge block of ice fall off the Chrysler building and smash into the hood of an older black car parked on 43rd street this morning. I didn’t think to get the plate number but remember that it had an NYP plate and a handicap card on the dashboard of the car. Don’t know if anyone from the building told him how his hood was damaged.

  • Joanna

This is great but has it been updated since 2006?

    Thanks

  • Joanna

Has this been updated since 2006? Thanks

  • Nope. If someone gets an updated list, I’d be happy to post a link.

most nyp plates are bogus. Just because you work for the news doesn’t give you the right to steal so much free parking. how many of you even meet the qualifications?
