So this morning still felt under the weather and sniffly, but not as bad as yesterday.
Went out and proved it by setting a PR in the race. 26:24 net, 26:33 official, good for 263 out of 3868 finishers (and 234 out of 2173 men). My previous PR for four miles was 26:47, set in November.
Chelle cruised past me at the two-mile mark; I guess she started toward the back. She was passing people left and right. (And was planning on running another eight in the park later — yowa!)
I’m actually somewhat disappointed in my race, though. Did a 6:37 and a 6:20 for the first two miles … then I think I lost my focus and concentration a little. Maybe got a bit complacent, thinking the PR was in the bag. (I knew I had to run better than 6:41s). In any case, I was shocked when I checked my split at the third mile and found I had run it in 6:57. I put my head down for the fourth for a 6:35. (Avg. HR: 181; overall pace 6:36)
Kicking myself now for that third mile — could have done better. But I’ll take it, I guess.
Congrats on your PR!

Congrats man! Good for you!
Congratulations! And it sounds like there’s even some room for improvement in there.
