best-dressed

Here’s the story from my competition in Esquire’s best-dressed contest.

[M]y style is more along the lines of casually casual – or maybe just plain casual.

It’s not that I’m a sloppy dresser – it’s just that I often … dress sloppily.

I’d rather rely on my suave good looks, charm and sophistication to get along.

So when my editor told me yesterday afternoon he wanted me to enter Esquire’s “Search for the Best Dressed Real Man in America,” it seemed like cruel and unusual punishment.

UPDATE: My friend Jon just emailed me:

But I was positively glowing after some guy stopped me on Eighth Ave. as I walked back to the office.

Uhhm, I’m not sure if you really intended for that statement to come off the way it did. But whatever floats your boat. The pick looks good and good article. Congrats.

Awg! I didn’t mean to imply I am anything other than a straight, heterosexual, woman-lovin’ man! I was probably not “glowing” but it was always good to receive a compliment. (And the guy was definitely not trying to hit on me!) I hope the world does not think I, er, play for the other side now….

what’s the deal with how you ended the piece? … not that there’s anything wrong with it …. guy stops you on the street, compliments you on the jacket … plus says it looks good on you too … and you were “positively glowing” …

so the guy was trying to pick you up and now you’ll be getting lots of fan mail from chelsea… well, good for you, i guess.
