So aside from the name of a handsome tabloid reporter, “Derek Rose” is actually also the name of a luxury British pajama line. (The company was started in 1926 by a Jack Rose; Derek is his son, who joined the company in the 1950s).
Their domain name is derek-rose.com, but sometimes people sending email forget about the hypen, and so the email goes to me. I’d been forwarding them on, but after this happened four or five times I jokingly told the managing director if it happened again I was gonna demand some free pajamas. Well, it did — and he did indeed offer me some PJs! I told him he really didn’t have to, but I did give him my address… and today I got an email from a woman at the company, saying they were about to send them off!!
