So imagine how well I would have done if I hadn’t been out drinking the night before? Well, it was still a 27-second PR, so I can’t complain. 25:57, a 6:29 pace. 258 out of 4707 runners; 225 of 2327 men. It was a good race and I felt strong the whole way out. Fended off one Flyer and nipped another one with about 100 yards to go. It was a vain attempt to score for our ex-president, but alas I would have had to be another 67 seconds faster to place among the top five Flyers guys.
Our fastest woman, Erin Boyle, beat our fastest guy by a minute! (She ran a 23:29). Yowza. The men and women ran separate races (there was an 8:30 a.m. men’s start and a 9:30 a.m. women’s — why does it seem men always get the earlier start?), but looking at the results, I was just a few seconds behind Chelle.
The run upset my tummy, though. Hard running sometimes seems to do that.
Awesome and congrats! 27 seconds is a huge chunk to take off a 4 mile PR!
i run best with a slight hangover
congrats on a great race!! thanks again for bracing the cold afterwards and cheering on the ladies 🙂
yeah me too about the tummy thing. i’m sure it’s feeling better by now…congrats on the pr!
