The recent heat really did a number on my running, I must say. Or maybe I’ve just been focused on other things. As recently as the spring I was setting all sorts of PRs! Anyway, Saturday was my first long run in awhile, just 12 miles, but I got it in. 1:50 for two loops, not fast, but it’s a start.
I have also been re-assigned to to my paper’s Queens office. I will be working on less-significant stories, but should have more autonomy in how I go about covering things. I must say I was finding the lack of autonomy is my current assignment rather draining, my heart hasn’t been in it. There has not been nearly as many opportunities to use my own initiative as I would like, so this should be a good change. And for running, I will be working a 9-5 shift so I’ll finally be able to attend the Flyers’ speedwork sessions! Hurrah!
Good for you! This is great.
Well I am looking on the bright side. The downside is it will be I will be covering more community news. But to be perfectly honest I think I felt most fulfilled when I was a correspondent for the Union Leader with complete autonomy to set my own schedule, come up with my own story ideas and work sources for a beat.
Good to have a change. Let’s hope it reignites the passion for the job!!
Love, Mum
