So I remember when I did the NYRR’s long training run #2 last year, I started out in a too-ambitious pace group and ended up dying at the end. (A frequent problem for me, I can be a total rabbit). Or maybe it was just the fact that I was out boozing the night before.
Anyway, this time I was smarter, stayed in Friday night and got in a good run with the 8:30 pace group. Actually I did get up late, I didn’t wake up until 6:30 a.m., so I biked up to Columbus Circle and joined the runners somewhere in the west 80s about three miles into the run. For the last loop I felt pretty good so I went out with a subgroup that was going pick it up to 8:15s… kept up with them for two miles, but they probably finished around 100 yards in front of me. Afterward I still had a little more to go so I ran back down to Columbus Circle for about a 21-mile jaunt, running into Benjamin Wagner and his g/f and brother on the way.
Sunday I attended the night game of the Sox/Yankees doubleheader, it was a good game on a nice evening but at this point who cares? I didn’t even know who was pitching for the Sox, and still don’t, in truth. But for the record, the BoSox were a perfect 4-0 in the games I watched this season at the Stadium.
