resolutions for 2009 update!

Okay, so when I made my resolutions for 2009, I promptly ignored them, unlike my resolutions for 2008. However the nice thing about New Year’s Resolutions is that you have a year to do them. And I have refocused lately and hope to have completed all or nearly all of these this year.

Here they are as I wrote them Dec. 31, 2008 (in italics) and their current status:

1. Get down to 168 lbs. Again. I’m fine with the way I look now at 172, and don’t want to sound like one of those annoying people picking at minor body flaws, but hey, why not? Completed! I lost a couple of pounds training for the Portland (Ore.) Marathon and am lately around 166 to 168 pounds (and 9% body fat). Didn’t even diet.
2. Get that score of 285 on the Marine Corps fitness test. Carryover from 2008. I need to retake this and see how I do.
3. Find stable employment that doesn’t involve so many nights and weekends…. Completed, mostly. I’m at least off the night shift. Like everyone else in the media business, still vulnerable to layoffs, but we’ll see.
4. Yoga resolutions: be able to do full wheel for a minute, standing split with fingertips on floor, a headstand in the center of the room and a handstand even if against the wall. Also: do yoga everyday for a month.. Still working on it. I began my “practice yoga everyday for a month” resolution Oct. 15 and have kept it up so far. Full wheel for a minute, not yet; standing split with fingertips on the floor, check; headstand in center of the room, well, does tripod headstand count?; handstand against a wall, check.
5. Run another marathon. Completed! Ran the Portland Marathon Oct. 4 in 3:57.

So there we go. Will post another update on or around Nov. 15!
