First doubles of the year. A run in the morning, and a run in the evening. Well, I didn’t set out to do it this way. But I had a hard run scheduled this morning … and I sucked. I mean, I did seven miles … but it was supposed to be a hard run. The nice thing about a heart rate monitor is, it doesn’t let you cheat — I was averaging less than 140 beats a minute. Not very good.
So 30 minutes on the treadmill this evening, at 6:27 pace (and a 1% incline). Didn’t bring my heart-rate monitor, but I felt it was a good workout.
I am not a big fan of treadmill running — I mean, the great thing about running is, it gets you outside, right? And I ran outside all through the winter — why would I run inside in the spring?
But I’m even less of a fan of the lame-ass type of running I was doing this morning. I haven’t been running with a group, or with a partner, for awhile. I think sometimes it’s hard to push yourself on your own, and easy to get into a rut. Or at least, it is for me.
So the treadmill it is.
