My sister took this picture of an iceberg that is floating off the coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Note the wing of her plane in the lower left-hand corner. This is the first time a ‘berg has been spotted so far north, but scientists say they don’t know whether climate change is to blame.
UPDATE: Meredith says she took this pic “about 70km off the coast of Dunedin. Icebergs of various sizes have been floating past for about a month… occasionaly they have been close enough so that you could see them from the top of Mt Cargill…. We went out on a little plane (8 seater) and flew around them … it was about an 1.5 hour trip….”
Lets not get too carried away by iceberg fever. 75 years ago there were icebergs floating by the Otago coast.
Sorry about your bike incident. Last time I had an argument with a bus, I fell off my bike, and the bus driver didn’t even notice. How is your hand?
