Here i am at top of Mt. Sheridan. It is about 10,000 feet … But Yellowstone is already high so elevation gain was ‘only’ about 2,600 feet. You have to walk 7.5 hilly miles to Heart Lake to get to mountain though. So 21.5 miles total. Took 9 hours and my sandal exploded on the way; luckily someone gave me an old shoe lace to hold it together. Also called tallman on hike. I was feeling very self-satisfied until i met a French guy in middle of 4-week road trip from S.F. (Where if teaches at french school) to chicago. He may have seen more of my country than me! Also i had to push myself to keep up. Nice guy tho.
