In Chicago:
- Saw Wrigley and a Cubs game that went into extra-innings. (But the Cubs lost)
- Ran along Lake Michigan. (Actually, I’d done that before). Did yoga and Pilates at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, an incredible Frank Gehry-designed sound stage. (Has there been another architect as influential since Frank Lloyd Wright?)
- Went to the Billy Goat tavern.
- Did three hikes of roughly 20 miles or so, two in Yellowstone National Park (around Lake Shoshone and to Heart Lake and up Mt. Sheridan) and one in Grand Tetons (Jenny Lake to Lake Solitude to Paintbrush Canyon to String Lake).
- Jumped in Lake Solitude, where bits of snow were floating. It was freezing!
- Got eaten by mosquitoes around Lake Shoshone. Awg.
- Went four days without a shower. Ugh.
- Met a couple cool hiking partners.
- Kayaked around Leigh Lake. Accidentally interrupted a woman doing some nude sunbathing on a remote beach.
- Broke the Nikon Coolpix S210 I had bought for the trip — it just suddenly started saying “lens error” — but J&R was nice enough to replace it today.
- Drove 650 miles.
- Went to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, where the bar stools are old saddles.

Actually, I took her photo. She was in a swimsuit by this time, tho. Maybe I will email it to you. We ended up talking for like 5-10 minutes and then she wanted to take my photo (I was still in kayak a little bit from shore), so i took hers as well. She was a bit older, tho, and while I did sorta see her boobies it was from a distance. She sorta invited me to join her and her boyfriend/husband (who wasn’t there at the time) at some bar in the Grand Tetons that Friday, but I ended up being in Yellowstone at the time.
I saw I.M. Pei at a chinese restaurant once. My Mom recognized him and we went over and talked to him. Ohh, I’m so special!
She wanted you to join her and her husband…just for drinks? Uh huh.
