So via Gawker, I learned yesterday that singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton is training for the NYC Marathon. In fact she ran Grete’s half-marathon on Sunday in a very respectable 1:46 (8:03 pace). (If you don’t know who Vanessa Carlton is, you’ve still probably heard her big hit “A Thousand Miles” — listen here, or check out her cool cover of the Stones’ “Paint It Black”).
Sounds like the 25-year-old ex-ballerina has an excellent chance of a sub-4 hour marathon, which Diddy might find a tad embarassing. He ran a 4:14 in 2003.

although i didn’t run grete’s gallop, i was in central park that day with all of the runners. it’s kind of cool that i have two of her songs on my shuffle at the moment. we could have passed each other while i’m listening to her music. i think that’s pretty cool…
