So I’ve lived on W. 50th between Tenth and Eleventh for, like, over two months now, and somehow had never ventured into Ruby et Violette across Tenth Ave. from me until today. A friend sent me this link noting the place is changing owners. I went ventured in today for, uh, my own blog research. Mmmmmm, I can report these are really the best cookies ever!
Also: used my “borrowed” WiFi and Skype to call my family in New Zealand today. The time difference means it’s Christmas there already. Total cost for the 23-minute call: 51 cents. I did have to buy $10 worth of credits, but I don’t think they ever expire, and there’s no monthly fee. Quality was a little fuzzy, but acceptable. (My Skype username is derek7272, if anyone wants to give me a call). I think everyone with a landline should consider ditching it for Skype or one of the other Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services such as Vonage, Voicepulse or Packet8. The last three offer unlimited calling for $15-$20/mo., including voicemail, call waiting, etc. Skype has no monthly fees and calls cost 2.3 cents/minute, although a regular phone number to receive calls is $36/year.
Tomorrow I’ll be at the office. Merry Christmas, everyone…
Merry Xmas, Derek!
Merry Christmas:)
As for cookies, best cookies ever? There may be some competition from the UES;0)
