‘Page Fix’

So delicious … I really have nothing to add on this whole Page 6 shakedown scandal, but if you haven’t been reading the coverage in my paper, you should.

(And if you’re reading this blog from New Zealand, as a few of you probably are — a staffer for “Page 6”, the gossip page for our chief rival, has been caught on tape apparently trying to shake a billionaire down for $220,000 in exchange for stopping printing lies about him.)

Here’s a little bit from the tapes.

Burkle: “If you were in my shoes, if you had $220,000 about to shift from this side of the table to that side of the table, what is my year going to look like with protection and what is my year going to look like without protection?”

Stern: “I mean, let’s call it help. Protection I think is, you know, that adds overtones and stuff that uh …”
