Toward the finish.

After the jump, you can see how the woman the orange top and black shorts almost nipped me at the end.

Still gaining.

Steps to finish

Neck and neck.

The official results give us the same time, but say I was the 342nd finisher and she was the 343rd, so I’ll take it. There are a few more pics here.

  • That chick is Audrey Kingsley from CPTC 🙂

  • Audrey’s the one in the blue CPTC outfit, but I was talking about the woman in the orange, who is with Moving Comfort. I don’t know either of ’em and figure it might be best to only use other people’s names when they beat me, rather than when I beat them. I don’t want to appear braggy, although I do think I am pretty honest in writing about the ups and downs of my running career.

Dude, you should not be caught by a girl at the end of a race. You must work on your kick. Beaten, no problem. For example, we both know Chelle could give you a mile head start and beat you in a half marathon. But even she shouldn’t be able to beat you in the last fifty yards. Finish strong.

  • But I wasn’t caught. Nearly, almost, but not quite.

As for Chelle… well she has become an awesome runner … but I do present to you the results of the VC Founders Day run last weekend. The weekend you were too hung over to attend!!!!

Nice job. You beat her in a three mile race. That’s not quite a half marathon, but still it is pretty good. I note that you came in 15th, but that except for one 28 year old, all the rest who beat you were 19 – 22, probably people who are still on the college track team for the most part.

Yes, Cinco de Mayo did me in. I’ll never do multiple shots of tequila on an empty stomach again.

  • They’re all on the VC XC (cross-country) team … the 28-year-old is the coach.

I think my strength is middle distances like the 5K, while the curly-haired redhead in question is a great long-distance runner.
