The Mofo is using Craigslist to organize a trip to Cerro Aconcagua, a 23,000-foot mountain on the border of Argentina and Chile:
We are a group of three experienced high-altitude hikers living in Boston, and we’re looking to round up a few more like-minded people to go and climb it.
Basically, we figure that by getting a larger group, we can negotiate better prices with mountain guides or transportation in Argentina, and share resources a little more efficiently: one person bring the Scrabble, another the deck of cards; that sort of thing. And since the idea of traveling to South America for a major hike is slightly crazy, a lot of our friends aren’t interested — so what better place to find other slightly crazy people than Craig’s List?
Last year he also organized a successful trip to Kilmanjaro using Craigslist.
(If he decides to go in 2007, I might join him … anyone else interested? Hiking/camping exp. essential).
I will be interested in…admiring your photographs of it on the blog.
