I quite like being a guy. While I love chicks, I have no real desire to be one… or wear their clothes.
But I’ll tell you: there’s one element of the female wardrobe that always made me jealous, that I always aspired to: open toed shoes. Who on earth wants to wear socks and shoes it’s 85 degrees out?
Therefore I was overjoyed when I noticed two of the guys in my office (wherever that office may be! I’m certainly not saying) wearing sandals in to work and figured it was finally safe to follow their lead.
Free at last, free at last, my feet are free at last!
(These are not just any old flip-flops, understand. There are $48 Sanuk sandals I got a few weeks ago in Newport, R.I. Ooooh yes, are they comfy.)
How come that other blogger from your place of work, which shall remain nameless, is allowed to keep up her links on her home page to her work at the undisclosed location where you work. What a hideous ridiculous policy.
I just checked her site … looks like she’s taken that link down.
Were you lucky enough to get in the NYC half-marathon? The NYRR website indicates that all 10,000 spots are already sold out. I check the site regularly; it must have filled up in a week or so. I missed it.
I think it filled up quicker than that … maybe within hours. I am on the waiting list. But really, I’m not that keen to pay $60 to run a half-marathon.
I also have no desire to shell out $60 for a half marathon. Seems a little greedy on NYRR’s part, when you pay $11 to run the Brooklyn Half in much friendlier weather conditions.
Back to the post at hand – I, too, am a big fan of sandals. I have to say, I do love my Tevas. Could never cross the line into true flip flops, though. It’s the sound of them flippitying floppitying that drives me crazy. Really do need that ankle strap.
Oh yeah, and I quite like being a guy, too.
No way, man! I can’t wear sandals in my newsroom.
I read this interesting article not so long back and thought that I should pass it along….

I don’t know if this applies because it isn’t like you are wearing a suit….

If I were your bosses, I’d make you cover up those footsies… Seems inappropriate in a newsroom and out on the beat, or wherever it is you work but are not allowed to say. Sheesh. I’m only buying the Post from now on.
Nice feet.
Not so nice … believe me.
I think guys look good in sandels and flip flops.
Grrr… I find this very trickity ariana. I just reviewed all your comments to try to figure out who you could be that delights in teasing me so. There is really only one person who ever ridiculed me quite this much and I would be extraordinary flattered if you were her, but I don’t really think you are. So who could you be???? You seem to know me, or at least my feet….
I hear ya about the price. Compared to races around the country, fees for NYRR races are usually pretty reasonable.
So many jobs these days restrict footwear, most being “unprofessional looking” but dang I sure could do a more professional job when I’m comfortable! I hate hot feet! But wear I work, closed toe, closed heel… I do get away with sneakers though… with my “jammies” also called scrubs… so why not bed time slippers… goes with the scrubs, eh?
I think guys look great in sandals except when they wear them with wool socks…ack.
I, too, bought Sanuk flip flops in Newport this summer…..at a store appropriately named “Flip Flops”. I was looking up info on this store and I came upon your blog on the way. Couldn’t agree with you more….no socks and shoes in the summer…no matter who you are! I have just found a site that has these remarkable sandals at a great price. I have never felt such comfort on my tootsies! Let the toes breath!!! Enjoy!
