So check out the NYRR calendar for January … they have a “NYRR Manhattan 20K” scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28. The rumor is that this will be run on the streets of Manhattan! Whoo-hoo!
I am hoping that when their race calendar for the rest of the year comes out, they will have more 5Ks and 5-milers and less four-milers. Who ever runs that distance outside of Central Park?
I love 5Ks, they’re so intense, you need such concentration; a four-miler just isn’t the same thing.
UPDATE: Flygirl found out a way to hack into the unpublished NYRR calendar … try this link.
4 miles used to be my favorite distance; they used to run them a lot in Maine, before the 5K took over the world.
That manhattan 20k sounds good, i just wish it were later in the year…personally, I will not be in shape to run that distance by that time!
As far as 5k’s go-i wish they’d have more outside the park, i prefer them to be on flat courses…it’s tough-for me at least-to race that hard when i have Cat Hill or Harlem Hill to contend with.
4 miles is not so bad-again, that’s one distance i’d like to try on a flat course…i’ll break 30 minutes yet…
