BOSTON (AP) — Instead of hiring a new general manager, the Boston Red Sox decided assistant general manager Jed Hoyer and director of player development Ben Cherington will share the job.
Doesn’t this sound like a receipe for disaster?
who’s in charge here?

Is there any other team like that in sports? I know some teams fuse the coach and the general manager, but does anyone have TWO general managers?
Disaster is an understatement!
You’re not accounting for the Lucchino factor. I suspect he’s playing more of a role in player development than is widely understood.
Just like bullpen by committee!! Bill James is actually the de facto GM! I predict Theo and Lucchino will be the men behind the curtain, running the team while these guys are the public face.
