wither the Rundown?

So as y’all may have noticed, the Rundown has been in a bit of hibernation. Well, there’s not a lot to say about running over the winter, anyway. (For those of you new to this blog, the Rundown is this “runners’ carnival” blog-roundup I started about a year ago).

In all honestly, I got a little bored with it toward the end of last year. I think it did serve it’s original purpose, which was to introduce people to new running blogs and create a little sense of community. But there is only so much anyone can write about running … it is not like any of us are exercise physiologists.

So I think for 2006, the Rundown will highlight race reports. That is the most interesting thing about running-blogging, IMHO: the sense of shared experience one gets from reading others’ racing reports, particularly about a race you’ve run. So I want to focus most (if not all) of future Rundowns on particular races.

If someone wants to write up a Rundown on the Brooklyn half, let me know (or else I’ll write one up Monday). I’m also asking for volunteers for race reports through May 19 (two months out). These certainly don’t have to be NYRR races; ideally they’d be races which you’re planning to run, but they don’t have to be.

2 comments to wither the Rundown?

  • hey derek… i’ve been missing the rundown and just posted about its disappearance on my blog today.. but figured i’d comment here and see what the deal is?? is it still up and running and i just can’t find it or what?!?!

  • it’s sorta been sidelined … i have gotten bored with it… if someone else wants to take it over I’d be more than happy to hand it off…
